ABOUT ABOUT

Please note, the deadline has passed for sponsorship and vendor sign up online. If you would like to still vend, you must email [email protected] for consideration!

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth is the only holiday that commemorates the abolition of slavery; more specifically the emancipation of enslaved Africans throughout the United States of America. Pennsylvania now permanently recognizes Juneteenth, as a state holiday. Governor Tom Wolf on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 signed legislation designating June 19 as Juneteenth National Freedom Day in Pennsylvania.

Juneteenth Philly, producer of the Philadelphia Juneteenth Parade and Festival, is excited to announce that we will host a series of events for the Juneteenth holiday. Due to continued COVID-19 restrictions we will not be able to produce our annual parade. However we will host a series of events which will include the Philadelphia Juneteenth Freedom Day Float House Competition, Juneteenth Freedom Day March along 52nd Street to support a national holiday, Philadelphia’s first Juneteenth Freedom Day Exhibit in Malcolm X Park and Virtual Vendors Marketplace.

The Juneteenth Vendors Marketplace has traditionally attracted hundreds of black businesses and nonprofits from across Philadelphia and the country, stimulating millions in revenue for the region. While we are unable to host vendors in person, Juneteenth will use its platform to drive business to vendors websites and storefronts. All participating vendors are asked to offer special Juneteenth discounts and promotions from June 13 - 20, 2021.
